We participate in the Community Legal Service Partnership referral scheme. Our aim is to ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available to them or through an inability to express their needs effectively; and equally to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
We are supervised by paid staff who, together with specialist caseworkers, support the work of volunteer advisors. All staff have to complete thorough and professional training on all aspects of the generalist advisory work. This leads to a certificate in generalist advice. Volunteers may then progress to specialist training in various subject areas and some obtain paid posts as a result of their training. All our staff have a strong commitment to CAB and the local community.
