The Trekking Centre is a family run horse riding and trekking business located on Silecroft Beach, in the beautiful Lake District of Northwest England. It was established in 2002 by Cath and Phil Wrigley and offers horse riding and pony trekking on the beach and fells. Our prime location allows us direct access onto Silecroft Beach with its five miles of golden sand and shallow waters. Only a minimal amount of roadwork through the peaceful village of Silecroft is required. We offer beach rides for all abilities ranging from complete beginners to experienced riders.
Childrens Pony Club
10:30-2:30pm. Includes lesson or hack, stable management/care of your pony. Fully supervised by qualified staff. Bring a packed lunch. Available weekends and school holidays.

Our passion for the ridden Clydesdale and Shire prompted the beginning of this small family business, enabling us to offer you, our clients, this unique opportunity to ride one of our wonderful "heavy horses." We hope you'll agree that our horses are polite, well-mannered, gentle folk; quiet for beginners yet they really wake up with an experienced rider! They are well schooled with fluent, flowing paces. They not only gallop, but jump, too. Great fun for the experienced rider. So, if relevant, do mention this when booking as we run faster "experienced only" rides.
Our rides vary in pace, difficulty and scenery, depending on your experience level and the ride you are taking. We are fortunate to have farmland surrounding us, yet having easy access to the West Coast beaches and Lake District hills. Our rides locally are from 1 1/2 hours to a full days ride. Come and experience the grandeur of this scenic area on one of our "big guys." It's an experience you'll never forget! New here at the farm is our gallery, where your non-riding friends can relax, enjoy a cuppa, and browse our Heavy Horse goods as they wait.
